FrenchWrite is eight free tools for writing in French. No account, no subscription — open the page and write. That's the whole idea.
I want this to stay the kind of tool that gets out of the way — no pop-up asking you to upgrade, no sidebar of features you'll never touch. Just a blank page and the French language.
What is FrenchWrite?
I'm the one person who builds and runs FrenchWrite. The first tool — the writing editor — came out of preparing for the TCF Canada expression écrite: I kept bouncing between a plain notepad and a separate word counter, and getting accents right was its own hassle on top of that. I wanted one page that did both, with nothing to sign up for.
It grew from that one tool into eight, each added because I needed it myself while writing or studying — a word counter, a verb conjugator, and four more covering noun gender, synonyms, TCF and TEF exam practice, and typing speed — see the full list. Every one of them runs in your browser: no install, no account, and what you write never leaves your device.
Who it's for
It's for anyone writing in French: learners at any level, students working on essays or homework, people living or working in a French-speaking country, and candidates preparing for TCF, TEF, DELF, or DALF. I didn't build it around one exam or one course — it's a general writing space, and the exam-specific tools are there if you need them, not in the way if you don't.
Why it's free
Everything here is free, and I don't have a subscription tier planned. There's no account system to build a paywall around in the first place — your text lives in your browser, not in a database I control, so there's nothing to meter or lock. If I add something new later, it'll stand on its own rather than turning today's free tools into a trial version of something bigger.

Yes. The TCF and TEF writing practice tools give you real prompts for each official task, and the word counter has one-click presets for TCF, DELF B2 (250 words), and DALF C1 (400 words) so you can check your length against the actual minimum.
Is my writing private?
Yes. Every tool saves to your browser's local storage only — your writing is never sent to a server, and there's no database of what people write.
